Multimedia Technologic

Viqi, Ray, Mei : "Hello Everyone!"
Viqi : "Back with us in..."
Viqi, Ray, Mei : "Multimedia Technologic!"
Viqi : "I'm Viqi Putra Wijaya."
Ray : "I'm Rama Andhika Yoga."
Mei : "I'm Meirisa Ananda Putri."
Ray : "We're a student from State Polytechnic of Creative Jakarta, Multimedia Study Program."
Mei : "And we share some basic knowledge of Multimedia."

( Intro/Title come in ) (Viqi's part)

Viqi : "So, what did you know about multimedia? Is it some kind of art? Or just a fancy way to say some digital art?"
Viqi : "As the name, Multimedia is a media that has a combination of different elements such as text, audio, images, animations, video and interactive content. These elements bring a different feel to the content that we want to deliver so that it attracts the audiences more."
Viqi : "Multimedia has been around since about a century ago. However, in that period,  we do all the work with long and tiring manual steps. Drew all the scenes of animation with hand, recorded a movie or film sequence in a long period for just about under 10 minutes duration and used live music for a theater movie."
Viqi : "But today, Multimedia has grown so much that all those works can be done in short amount of time with good creativity."
Viqi : "Talking about the  growth of making an animation or video, things that stand out beside the quality and making time is the usage of colors and sounds. Yes, before all that vibrant and beautiful color we see in the video also that talking voice and background music, early video, animation, and movie are in black and white or grayscale mode also there was a little bit of music or nothing at all. We call it a silent movie."
Viqi : "Why color and sound are so much important in media, especially multimedia? Is it making any difference?"

( Mei's Part)

Mei : "Human eyes can see color even when someone is colorblind. These abilities help us to be distinct from every object that we see. Colors can give us a better memory quality, affect how we see an object, even our behavior."
Mei : "Okay, first when you see this color what thing that crosses your mind? (color red) Now this color (blue)"
Mei : "Most of us say red are fire, dangerous, spirit, while blue is sea, calm, and the color of the sky. This thought, even there's no real reason why give us much different perspectives on how we remember and see things."
Mei : "Next, let's play some game. I'll show you 10 different pictures and you have to remember it in 3 seconds. Ready? GO! (show 10 different pictures)."
Mei : "Can you remember all the pictures? Or half of it? Is it pretty hard right? Now let's change it to more colorful images. Ready? GO! (Show pictures with low visibility, colorful)."
Mei : "Maybe you can remember some of the pictures and maybe your eyes hurt too because you are squinting your eyes to see what are the images that I showed you earlier. Also, you can only remember the color for the first time."
Mei : "The last stage is I want you to see the same pictures again, but with another adjustment. Ready? GO! (show pictures with good visibility)."
Mei : "All right, Why we play this game? My memory isn't that good! Or the time is to fast; you probably ask this. This game is to show us that color  affect the way your brain remembers the thing even give a long-term memory on your brain."
Mei : "The first stage you hardly remember anything because it's in grayscale mode and our brain didn't have an interest on that, there is nothing to arouse your neuron. The second stage we used colorful images, so your brain has an interest in that. Maybe we did good, but still, there are some images that we couldn't see perfectly because  even though we used color as one of the ways to remember, readability or visibility of what's on the pictures still matter."
And the last stage, we perform even better from the last two stages. That is because other than using color, we use one of the design requirement which is readability or visibility.

(Ray's part)

Ray : "Blue, green, red, all those color brings out the design or art to stand out, but speaking of multimedia, we still can't leave sound. I'm sure you all listen to music right?"
Ray : "But, do you know if music can improve memory and creativity too? Okay, let's try to listen this audio !"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEgSBuYlSoA (--music video--)

Ray : "Okay, it's enough. I think we do not have to listen until it runs out for up to 3 hours. You can practice yourself by searching related keywords on youtube. For example, you can type the keywords like "music relaxation", "music for improving memory," "music for increase creative," and the others. After you search for keywords like the example that I'd give. I'm sure you do not believe in seeing the duration of time available from the video search results."

Ray : "The search results ranged from 30 minutes to 8 hours. WOW, it,s amazing. Also, after we listen to the example of the music like that, try to explain what you feel? Its very, very quiet, doesn't it? You feel comfortable, even sleepy."

Ray : "According to research, relaxation music can inspire someone when creating an idea. Musical relaxation can make the creativity better because it has the power to develop higher brain function. For you who get the task to design something or you get the job concerned with the design, but confused not getting an inspiration? Of course, you can try to collect inspiration while listening to music. I am sure you get the inspiration that you want."

Ray : "Many video learning now uses music to keep in mind. Check this video."

Ray : "The sounds or music makes the way of learning more interesting. Lots of audio functions are mutually concerned in the field of multimedia with humans directly. That is why multimedia is more interesting with the presence of musical elements."

Q & A

Is there any multimedia product that is in non-digital form or didn't use digital process?

Sometimes, I heard music or a lyric in my head, and I can't stop thinking about it. Is there any logical explanation for that?

How to choose a right color combination for design?

Based on my knowledge, I think there are many multimedia non-digital form/product. Because multimedia isn't always using digital technology, as long as there are multimedia elements in it, we can say that the product is a multimedia product, for example like a painting picture, handmade poster, Caligrafi

There is a term called an earworm. This is a phenomenon of trapped pieces of music that is played by the music is no longer played. In music psychology, earworm are also known as musical hallucinations. Moreover, it turns out there is research that says at least 92% of people report that they have this problem at least once a week.

There is a lot of ways to choose the color combination for the design like analogous color schemes, monochromatic color scheme, complementary color scheme, and others. However, the main thing is, think about how much contrast you want throughout the design. Being experimental and doing a lot of practice makes you can easily choose a color for the next design.

(Ending)

Viqi : "Multimedia gives us many benefits in learning, entertainment, security, advertisement, business, and so on. You can receive a thousand of information form any devices, like a Television, Radio, Online media, newspaper, and many more around you. Even you do shopping in a minimarket, the multimedia effect still there, it's on cashier machine, the product, the ads, and many more."
Mei : "Today's video just a short introduction to what is multimedia and some of its element."
Ray : "For further information on Multimedia, please stay tuned for the next vlog. Let us know what things about Multimedia that you want to know in the comment section below.
Viqi : "Don't forget to give this video a thumbs up and click that subscribe button."
